Hundreds of metres from any main Roads Rodney Meadow is a beautiful water and featured heavily in the writings Of well known Carp angler Paul Selman.
The lake consists of bays and small islands with lily pads and reeds, the lake has gravel bars in most areas creating A variation in depths and providing the angler with a variety of features to fish to.
The fish introduced last year have been growing well with reports showing that several are already pushing 20lb. The carp temporarily homed in neighbouring Mayfields have started to be returned to Rodney Meadow and hopefully all with have come home before the summer.
The lake record remains at the 38lb 10oz recorded in 2005 although growth rates over the summer of 2006 make it increasingly likely that this will be broken in 2007. Work completed over the winter continues to improve the lake to the advantage of the members with both car parks now being easily accessible, many swims have been rebuilt and encroaching trees and bushes cut back.
A new stocking of carp will happen at Rodney Meadow this season with the lake benefiting from the new equipment Boyer Leisure purchased over the winter. This will allow us to effectively take stock of what we actually have in our many stock pond waters and enable us to Move some big fish into Rodney Meadow.
Rodney Meadow is accessed through combination locked gates and is situated at the end of a long drive hundreds of metres from the main road.
Rodney meadow has two car parks allowing access to opposite ends of the lake, the first car park is shared with neighbouring venue Mayfields lake and it is here that you will find the toilet facilities. |
