Thorney Pool is our smallest water at around an acre in size, with one small island, many gullies and silty patches, and some nice marginal snags.
During the winter Thorney received a restocking of carp up to 20lbs.
This water can get weedy in the summer months but some work with a marker will show up clear spots.
Thorney contains a 31lb common that was banked last season, twelve others at over 25lb and a small head of fish around the 20lb mark.
During last season we saw a good many carp in the mid-to-upper 20s banked. Thorney Pool is accessed through combination-locked gates and is on the same complex as Rodney Meadow and Mayfields Lake.
There are three swims on the lake that have behind-swim parking.
The toilet facilities are shared with both Rodney Meadow and Mayfields Lake and may be found in the first Rodney Meadow car park.
- The company would like anglers to carry a Carp Care Kit.
