Orlitts Lake is neighbour to Colnbrook West Lake and is considerably larger at eight acres, littered with island of various sizes as well as having small bays and secluded areas which offer good stalking opportunities.
The fish have responded well to the bait going into the water and we have recorded some encouraging weight gains over the last couple of seasons.
The lakes Carp population now numbers around a dozen thirty plus fish one of which just scraped over the forty pound mark a couple of seasons ago but has yet to achieve it again so far. There are at least a hundred twenty pluses with a fair back up of doubles and singles.
The lake can get very weedy during the summer months and succeeding during this period involves a bit of work but the benefits are there to see.
Carpy features litter the lake and weed beds, snaggy area’s, island margins and bloodworm beds can be located from virtually every swim.
Other than the Carp the lake holds an impressive population of other species with Tench in particular reaching some impressive weights with fish over twelve pounds having visited the bank several times over the past few seasons.
Also fishable on your Orlitts ticket is sister water Little Orlitts, a little overgrown and involving a walk from big Orlitts this water is a bit of a mystery. Separated from the main lake several years ago the remaining Carp have been left virtually undisturbed and the bailiffs have reported observing fish well over twenty pounds so who knows what it could produce.
Accessed through combination locked gates Orlitts shares its toilet facilities with neighbouring water Colnbrook West. |
