BOYER BULLETIN
The recent weather reports have been keeping many anglers at home and most weekends over the last couple of weeks the banks of Farlows Lake have been fairly quiet. To be fair apart from a bit of wind and rain it hasn’t been bad here and the only incident of note was the angler setting up on Goose Green who’s bivvy suddenly decided it would rather be at the bottom of the Smelly Bank.
Phil Clifford fished the top of the M25 Bank for three fish to twenty three pounds eight ounces all of which were taken on premier baits. Along the Road Bank day ticket anglers reported landing fish to low twenties and the swims along Goose Green and Sunset were all producing fish to mid twenties.
Ben and Barry O’Connor fished Bodgit & Leggit for five fish with Ben landing the biggest in the shape of a twenty three pound Mirror to Mainlines Cell boilies and Owen following them up with a sixteen pound eight ounce Koi.
In Pads Bay a few were being reported with the biggest hit of the week being a twenty nine pound Linear backed up by four other twenties. On the Knuckle Bruce Aldworth was having a good session on Malarkey with five fish the biggest of which was a thirty six pound five ounce, and new lake record Common.
News just in as I type this is that the Farlows lake record has just fallen to regular Ian Massingham who was fishing along the top of the M25 bank. The new record, which is a well known fish called the Pretty One fell to Ian’s rods in the early hours of Wednesday morning and after weighing on several different sets of scales the final weight settled on was thirty nine pounds two ounces. Hopefully we will have full details of this capture plus the photographs by next weeks bulletin.
Heavy rain at Orlitts Lake caused some drains to burst into the lake, we have had the water tested and we are assured that there are no problems, happily this happened in the Winter and not during the heat of Summer when it may have been a different story.
Thorney Pool fish continue to put on weight and several twenties have been out in the last few weeks.
Rodney Meadow has seen quite a few of the new stockies which are fast becoming old fat stockies and the originals have been observed looking good in the gin clear water.
