Farlows really does have something for everyone. On a spit of land bisecting the lake you will find the Herons Point complex, this is the area is where you will find the showers and toilets, the Lakeside Bar & Café and Farlows Tackle..
Farlows main lake has hosted qualifiers for the British Carp Angling Championships since their inception and is a popular choice for many clubs and corporate days out. With security gates at all entrances, CCTV security camera’s and the facility to park behind your swim on 90% of the lake Farlows is one of the UK’s most popular day ticket waters. Comprised of bays of various sizes, many islands and gravel bars as well as huge beds of Norfolk Reeds and lily pads Farlows Lake can boast an impressive array of fish holding features.
Farlows Lake is a heavily stocked day ticket fishery, the decision to concentrate on producing a water known for its arm aching potential and multiple catches is, for the most part, the reason why the lake only joined the forty club in the summer of 2010. Our estimation of the lakes current stock is based on stocking records and does not take into account any fish produced from successful spawning over the past few years. At this time Farlows lake is home to at least one forty, ‘The Pretty One’, this fish is spending six months either side of forty and was last banked at 42lb. Somewhere close to forty two thirties, more than five of these fish have been within a couple of pounds of the forty mark, and two of them are commons!. There are literally hundreds of twenties and single figure fish and a conservative ‘total’ would be that over thirteen hundred carp call Farlows Lake home.
Although the Match Lake is gaining a reputation for big Bream and Tench it is still in the main lake that holds all the suprises. Bream to fourteen pounds and Tench to twelve pounds have been landed from the main lake over the past season and there are large shoals of quality Roach to be found.
Farlows Match Lake continues to be a very popular venue for clubs, an ongoing stocking programme has seen the lake produce good bags all year round and matches have produced some high weights even in the depths of Winter.
In winter farlows becomes a pike anglers paradise with multiple catches easily achievable,
the lake record still stands at 32lb.
Reports of over half a dozen big pike up to 25lb as well as hundreds of jacks and mid doubles confirms farlows reputation as a top day ticket pike water.
