Easily one of our most popular venues this intimate water really does have everything the Carp angler could want.
Large reed beds grow along many banks and large silt patches and bloodworm beds can be found next to gravel patches and gulleys of varying depths. A large shallow plateau runs across the middle of the lake a during the summer months this ara becomes a magnet for the carp which can easily be observed cruising across this area.
Colnbrook West can boast an impressive head of fish for a water of only four and a half acres with up to ten fish that are regularly over thirty pounds to the current lake record of thirty eight pounds three ounces. There a currently more than thirty five fish over twenty five pounds and a hoard of twenties and doubles.
Colnbrook West lake is also well known for producing some very nice Tench which have visited the bank at weights exceeding eleven pounds and there have been several captures of Bream approaching the twelve pound mark.
This popular venue can get very busy early in the season so we recommend anglers consider purchasing a second water or neighbouring Orlitts Lake otherwise early season you may not always get a swim. Anglers should note that it is rare not to get a swim and if it should happen it will only be during the first few weeks of the season.
Please note:
- There is a seven day limit in one swim after which you must move 90˚ around the lake.
- Carp Sacks are banned at this venue and your permit is forfeit if you are found using one.
- Leaders must be a maximum of 24” long
- A draw will take place on 31st March at midday in the car park. If there are not enough swims you may fish Orlitts for the first week after which you must purchase a permit.
A secure venue located just off the A4 Colnbrook by pass and accessed through combination locked gates Colnbrook shares its car park and toilet facilities with neighbouring venue Orlitts.
